If you call someone a “transtrender” and mean it, then you’re upholding transphobic systems.
How?
1) “transtrender” is a term meant to deny someone connection to their gender, by such it is misgendering and can cause upsets with dysphoria
2) it creates a new means for people to justify transphobia. when people purposefully harm trans people, they’ll reply “they’re just a transtrender!” this trend exists on this site already, and I hope it doesn’t catch on into the real world.
3) by creating this concept of “people are using it as a trend!” closested trans kids/people who are exploring themselves and trying to understand themselves will encounter the culture (more than likely through online research) that accuses people of it being “trendy” and they may internalize what they’ve read and from such repress it - which will lead to worse issues: worsened dysphoria, depression, suicidal tendencies, etc.
3b) parents that do research after their children come out as trans can use the “transtrender” logic as a means to abuse and deny their kid proper help and treatment
4) it creates a criteria of being “trans” that’s actually more restrictive than the medical definitions and accepted research
5) in all actuality, there is no “trend” of being trans. rather, the trend is trying to bully and justify it. there are a variety of reasons these bullying methods are done: be it to feel like the “superior” [trans] person, because an individual is transphobic but doesn’t want to admit it, etc. etc.
6) because it’s fucked up, rude, and it’s transphobic
