ya’ll laugh but this is extremely frustrating and disheartening for people who are d/Deaf/HOH and have auditory processing disorder (APD). it can be funny, what ridiculous BS automatic captions come up with, but this is just another example of how the TECHNOLOGY IS NOT HERE YET, and yet hearing people laugh at this kinda thing or don’t pay any mind to it when d/Deaf/HOH people and people with APD plead to have actual captioning provided. i would LOVE to watch steven universe, but guess what? can’t, ‘cause i’m Deaf. i know that this post is meant to be amusing, and it is, i’m not trying to start shit, but i just want more hearing people to be aware that while automatic captions can be funny, it’s also stopping d/Deaf/HOH and APD people from enjoying certain forms of media because people don’t mind or know that automatic captions suck.

so when you see this kinda thing, hearing people, you can laugh, but be aware that this is not acceptable and it’s what we have to live with whenever we want to enjoy something but only automatic captioning is available.

This is why closed captioning is so important, folks.
